Team Canada’s artistic gymnastics squad closed out its Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow with 16 medals overall, including 11 collected in apparatus finals on July 27 and 28.

Over the final two days of artistic gymnastics competition, Canadian athletes won five gold, three silver and three bronze medals in apparatus finals, rounding out a 16-medal haul over five days of competition.

In the overall medal standings, Canada sits in second place with 32 medals total since the Games began in Glasgow, Scotland, running from July 23 to August 2.

Team Canada marched with 149 athletes at the opening ceremony, part of a combined field of more than 3,000 athletes from across the Commonwealth.

The coming days of competition, particularly in athletics and swimming, could help Canada consolidate its position in the standings before the Games close on August 2.
