After a week marked by destructive storms in eastern Quebec, MétéoMédia flagged a new severe weather risk Wednesday for the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Gaspésie regions, while heavy rain was expected in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Eastern and northwestern Quebec remain under weather watch this week. A severe thunderstorm risk affected the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Gaspésie regions Wednesday, with the potential for strong wind gusts and hail, while variable-intensity rain was forecast for Abitibi-Témiscamingue, according to MétéoMédia.

The new watch follows a more intense episode the previous week, when an alert covered the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Côte-Nord, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Abitibi-Témiscamingue regions, with gusts reaching 110 km/h, hail measuring 2 to 4 cm, and up to 70 mm of rain in some areas.

Environment Canada is advising residents in these regions to secure outdoor objects, avoid non-essential travel during storms, and monitor alerts issued directly for their area, since the exact path of storm cells remains difficult to forecast far in advance.
